As a new Mac user the other day I was wondering how to force quit an app when it stop responding, once I figured it out I thought it would be a good idea to write a blog post about it to make sure I wont forget.
In case you run into an application not responding here are a few simple steps you can take to force quit the application and get your Mac back in business.
Step 1: Access the Force Quit Window
The first step is to access the Force Quit window. To do this, click the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen and select “Force Quit” from the drop-down menu. This will open the Force Quit window.
Step 2: Select the App
In the Force Quit window, you will see a list of all the applications currently running on your computer. Look for the application that’s not responding, and click on it to select it.
Step 3: Force Quit the App
Once you’ve selected the app, click the “Force Quit” button at the bottom-right corner of the window. This will immediately terminate the application and it will no longer be running on your Mac.
Step 4: Reopen the App
Once the application is force quit, you can reopen it normally by clicking the icon or navigating to the program’s folder in your Applications folder.
That’s it! You’ve successfully force quit an application on your Mac. If you’re having trouble with an application that’s not responding, this is a quick and easy way to get it running again.
I hope this helps you.
